Pluto Gets the Paper – Mortimer (2000)
Today I finally watched the Disney Cruise Line DVD that was sent via mail. And I’m compelled to make a post or three on a certain puppy’s cruise line outfits…
First up is the traditional Sailor Pluto (not THAT Sailor Pluto) suit. A striped red undershirt, white & red trimmed duck jacket, the oft recognizable necktie collar and cute sailor hat with the DCL emblem stitched on the front. From the Sail Away party to the ship’s lobby atrium, Sailor Pluto can be found anywhere for a hug/salute and a photo.
Definitely one of the top twenty reasons to take a Disney cruise naturally. 😉

Now, someone correct me of I’m wrong on this observation, but it appears that the DCL Pluto in my previous blog post might’ve been an older version of the outfit. More recent cruise pictures indicate that this outfit is what Pluto wears in all four cruise ships these days…
Anyway, the first major difference is the lack of a white shirt. The au natural look. Secondly, the collar tie is a silky, dark navy blue instead of polyester red. Thirdly, his regular collar with dog tag is now a part of the costume rather than removed. Finally, the sailor hat is now a single red stripe with no stitched DCL emblem.
Admittedly, I rather meet Sailor Pluto in his full getup. This feels like he was late for briefing and threw on whatever wasn’t in the wash. But it’s still a nice outfit.
Note: It has also been presented as a Vinylmation figure:
What I do like is it includes the rarely-pictured backside, which features the collar’s backing, his name stitched in blue thread.

Mickey’s Speedway USA, a great racing game for Nintendo 64. Pluto is kidnapped by those no-good weasels! Its up to Mickey and his friends to race across the USA and get him back! How exciting! Its very rare that I say a racing game is better than Mario Kart 64. It almost never happens. Keeping that in mind, I have to say that this game might just be better than Mario Kart 64 (GASP!) Its more fast-paced, the items are more fun to use (but tougher to master), the music is more catchy (Well…at times, anyway), the graphics are great for an N64 game (in my opinion), the battles are more frantic, and the characters have more chemistry. What other racing game has character yelling at each other by name based on how they interact? It feels like they’re actually interacting with each other instead of just saying generic phrases. The almost nonstop voices might annoy some other people, but I loved it. (You can turn the voices off or adjust their volume in the options menu as well) However, its not as challenging as other racing games until later on in the game, which can be seen as a downside. Plus, some of the courses are too short and easy, and on the opposite end of the spectrum some are way too hard (Colorado is straight from hell) I think its sort of a shame that not a lot of people have heard of it, and a lot of those who have heard of it dismiss it as “just a Disney game”. In my opinion, this is a game worth being played. Feel free to disagree, but don’t knock it til you …

The following video is my best attempt at filming the Disneyland Parade – “Celebrate! A Street Party.” My battery was running low and had to change it. That’s why this video is in 2 parts. I showed up at the last second and couldn’t get very close to the street. Plus, once they stop to dance, everything is spread out over a large area. It’s impossible to see everything. The characters seen in the video include but are not limited too: Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Woody, Goofy, Pluto, Gepetto, Chip & Dale, Minnie Mouse, Lelo & Stitch, Peter Pan Daisy Duck, and Winnie the Pooh. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it anyway. 🙂
