Of the many objects that orbit the Sun, most of the mass is contained within eight relatively solitary planets whose orbits are almost circular and lie within a nearly flat disc called the ecliptic plane. The four outer planets, the gas giants, are substantially more massive than the terrestrials. The two largest, Jupiter and Saturn, are composed mainly of hydrogen and helium; the two outermost planets, Uranus and Neptune, are composed largely of ices, such as water, ammonia and methane, and are often referred to separately as “ice giants”. no…. a dwarf planet is not a planet. “Dwarf planet” just means that it has SOME characteristics of one, but isn’t quite there. There are thousands of dwarf planets in the Kuiper Belt? and ones that are even bigger than Pluto. By your logic, then there are thousands of planets in our solar system.

it’s too small to be consider a planet, so we will call it a “dwarf planet”. Isn’t a planet? a planet? So there are nine planets in the solar system.
