Flickr – “EPCOT World Showcase Bus 1988”
Now this is a interesting picture, in which we witness a brief period of change for the old-fashioned double decker bus that had (up to approximately 1988) carted tourists all around World Showcase. For those that had visited EPCOT in the late 90s, you would’ve seen the later incarnation of Mickey’s Express, titled as the more generic, less festive and surprisingly colorful The Disney Characters on Holiday bus:
Why, even the old transportation logo near the corner of the passenger’s seat is covered up with an Epcot sticker. As if to indicate ‘NOPE, reserved for only the furry kind.’
Anyway, it’s a nice shot. And a certain attention hound has taken the opportunity to pump the crowd up in serape and sombrero front and center (despite the bus exiting from a backstage gate… in the UK pavilion). After all, it’s impossible to be unhappy in a poncho!
Taken March 1988.
