You got it right—Zi was there—try riding around the subway in 1974 ..nice stations–dim lights–run down–slum lords , rats (well we havent fixed that problem) 42nd street, etc—much of it is hidden now–films? locked away

@ 4:31 this was 1st piano man to do this. My host he invited me in to his storefront e. village,alphabet city where? he parked his piano. He wheeled down the street everyday. That’s me back of piano man long hair,high hopes- my dad lived in nyc then. 1980 or 81

I grew up on the West side (90’s and CPW) and as an 11? year old have clear memories in the early 70’s of fire hydrant sprinkler caps spraying into the street with kids cooling off in the summer as well as elderly women staring out open windows in the peak of the summer… all on 90th between Columbus and Amsterdam Ave’s! A couple blocks west of CPW the residents were PR’s and we weren’t allowed to walk over there alone. Not to be non PC, but that’s the way it was. Now… $1M for a 1 bedroom!
