A little secret between you and I: I used to truly dislike Stitch the first year he appeared in the parks. Over time, I slowly begin to like Stitch. I suppose since the hype for that little blue alien has died down, from stage shows to an overabundance of merchandise, I can finally accept Stitch for what he is – a mischievous, toothy, cute bugger.

So it’s no surprise that I am in love with this sign from Tokyo Disneyland. I wish I knew what the sign was for, but the fact that it has Pluto and Stitch dancing the hula together convinces me that my headcanon of the two being best buds off-screen, rough playing and chatting, is about as realistic as is being depicted.

Tokyo Disneyland Presents “Disney’s Natsu Matsuri”

Tokyo Disneyland will bring in the summer season with a Japanese-style festival presented with the Disney touch from today through August 31. Titled “Disney’s Natsu Matsuri,” this brand new special event features exciting programs with tons of spraying water and high-energy dancing.

The main venue of “Disney’s Natsu Matsuri” is the plaza in front of Cinderella Castle. Here, things will heat up with a lively dance contest by Mickey, Donald and all their Disney pals amidst gigantic columns of water shooting out from around Cinderella Castle.

The dance competition, called “Soryo Kobu,” starts with a preliminary contest during the day. The Disney pals lead eight different dance teams, showing off their moves to hip hop, Latin and pop music, all with an added Japanese element. As the contest heats up, huge columns of water shoot up from around Cinderella Castle, soaking everyone for some wet and wild fun as the guests join in the dancing.

At night, it’s the final competition between the four winning teams from the preliminary rounds. The stage is colorfully lit up, and the excitement is turned up with more music, dancing, spraying water and blazes of fire creating an exhilarating summer bash for all... [CONTINUED]

I would totally take a million and eleventy pics.

BTW, few things I noticed in that second pic. First off, that Mickey symbol would look like an amazing tattoo. Secondly, the foreground box with Pluto’s name (and possibly in Japanese!?) totally has Spaceship Earth tiles. And thirdly, while the canon eye colour is green, I always thought purple was a good hue for Pluto’s eyes, and I was right.

Scientists in the US have announced on Wednesday the discovery of the smallest moon yet around the icy orb if Pluto, bringing the count of its known moons to five. “We’re not finished searching yet,” said Hal Weaver of Johns Hopkins University, who thinks there may be more. The discovery was made by a team of scientists who used the Hubble Space Telescope to scout out Pluto’s neighborhood ahead of a NASA spacecraft that’s scheduled to arrive in 2015. The newfound moon, known as P5 until it gets a proper name, appeared as a faint fleck in the Hubble images. Scientists estimated the mini-moon to be 9km to 24km across, smaller than the still nameless one that they spotted last year, which is 12km to 33km wide.

So. Spooky Series 2, a continuation of the first Spooky Series Vinylmation from last year, is set for release this Fall. It features vampire Goofy with a neck extension and Pluto as a cuddly werewolf.

The second I first saw the Pluto, it was a clear desire of OMG WANT. But now that I zoomed in for a closer look, I discovered it is the Furry Friends Pluto redesigned with Halloween elements… I’m not sure if I should be grateful or disappointed.

On one hand, I’m extremely grateful that the basic FF Pluto design was reused and not completely forgotten in some sealed portfolio. I guess it’d be one step closer in owning the best Pluto vinyl ever. Plus I love the little touches like the pointy fangs, cloudy skies and moon on the ears. Even the pants – I find it hilarious they’d give Pluto pants in the first place.

On the other, I’m disappointed that they reused the FF Pluto design. Evidently they (Disney Store) acknowledge the Furry Friends fiasco subtly by this recycling. It’s so convenient how the two are similar… Awhile back, they randomly posted a FF Percy & Meeko on their FB page. A incident in Tennessee of recalled FF trays were sold on eBay but Disney Store officials never made a public response about it. And a recent Disney Geek video included a shelf of FFs. My point: They never made an OFFICIAL announcement if FF is coming back or not, they keep ignoring people’s request about the series, yet they keep tempting those who didn’t get a chance at that set with these reappearances in the media. I don’t know what gives. It’s like the reappearance of Dreamfinder at EPCOT, but only in merchandise for the past 6-7 years – they’re holding out the bone high enough for fans to snap at within a certain distance but never able to actually snag it. I’m sure Gerald and Enrique collaborated on this set, Mendez with Goofy and Pita reusing his Pluto design here. I wonder what their thoughts are on about the recall…

Anyway, I’ll be buying a set. IF this set is reduced in price like with the first Spooky Series to $7.99, then I’ll buy 20… Nah. Maybe just 10. Haha.
