The weather forces a mail plane to turn back. It drops the mail at Outpost N.5, staffed by Pluto, who is to carry it to the next airport. His mission is getting harder because of a nuisance rabbit who covets the blanket on Pluto’s sled
Likewise, the credits at the beginning of the re-issue print of “Morris the Midget Moose” (available on the Disney Rarities DVD set) are really the credits that belong to this cartoon.
Actually, Jack Hannah didn’t direct this cartoon. The credits at the beginning belong to another cartoon. To elaborate, when the reissue titles for this cartoon were being prepared, the titles for “Mail Dog” were edited into the print for “Morris the Midget Moose” and the titles for “Morris” went to this cartoon instead. So the credits at the beginning are actually the credits to “Morris the Midget Moose” instead. Charles Nichols directed this short.
The credits are all messed up. I read in the DIsney A to Z Offical encyclopedia that this cartoon was directed by Charles Nichlos and it even says so in the DIsney encyclopedia of animated shorts!

I remember only 2 other Pluto cartoons directed by him: Squatter’s rights (1946) and Pluto’s Christmas tree (1952).
I think he mostly directed Donald Duck and Chip n Dale cartoons.

Strange… :/ Is there another version of this cartoon? On the big cartoon database website it’s written that it’s been directed by Jack Hannah
